Feathering a selection does not blur the pixels in the image. It blurs the edges of the selection marquee only. This is useful when you want to remove an object from a photo. Feathering helps a copied area blend with the surrounding pixels.
To feather the edges of a pixel selection:
1 | Choose the Marquee tool and select an area of pixels. |
2 | Choose Edit > Feather to open the Feather Selection dialog box. |
3 | Type a value to set the feather radius, and click OK. |
The radius value determines the number of pixels that are blurred on each side of the selection border. | |
